Social Media : Nothing happens by chance

Social Media : Nothing happens by chance

Digital marketing is a science. We should all have realised by now that in the world of online, nothing happens by chance. Every GIF, Vine, video or comment that we see is most likely the result of somebody's social media marketing strategy. Facebook was never intended to be a marketing tool, YouTube was simply a means of sharing your home videos, even Google was first and foremost a means to an end. You could call it the age of innocence, and inevitably, it did not last long.

The world's most popular social networking sites have certainly changed over the years, and they'll undoubtedly continue to change as time moves forward. Old social networks will die, popular ones will stick around as they're forced to evolve, and brand new ones will appear. As it stands Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat seem to be top downloads on Apple and Android app stores.

Twitter has less than 140 million users interacting with the service daily, according to an average of analysts’ estimates surveyed by Bloomberg. The short-messaging service was once the largest social network after Facebook, but has since been surpassed by other apps, including Instagram and Snapchat.

Snapchat is growing, It now has over 150 million users worldwide with 110 million using the app daily. It was announced last week that it’s had more funding, added more filters and stickers for users to interact with.

Instagram announced they are releasing a new feature for business users. The new “Instagram business tools” allow companies to view post engagement and performance metrics across all content and to promote posts directly within the mobile app with the goal of reaching more customers. Instagram also launched “Business profiles” for the first time to allow users to talk to companies via the app. The features highlight Instagram’s focus on attracting more small businesses to the platform and on making its advertising service mobile-first.

At Streamline I'm creating more of a social presence on Twitter, recently joined Instagram and am planning on sharing our Snapchat stories very soon.
