What establishes our data protection obligations to you?
Streamline Connections Ltd is required to process your personal data in accordance with the law.
The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) implements the EU Data Protection Directive 1995 (EU Directive 95/46/EC).
From 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (EU Regulation 2016/679) will come into force; it replaces the DPA.
Our legal basis for processing your data
- Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR states that we can process your data where it "is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by [us] or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights or freedoms of [you] which require protection of personal data."
We think it's reasonable to expect that if you are looking for employment or have posted your professional CV information on a job board or professional networking site, you are happy for us to collect and otherwise use your personal data to offer or provide our recruitment services to you, share that information with prospective employers and assess your skills against our bank of vacancies. A prospective employer may also want to double check any information you've given us, confirm your references, qualifications and criminal record, to the extent that this is appropriate and in accordance with legislation.
Who is the Data Controller for Streamline Connections Ltd?
A data controller is a person or persons who determine the purposes for which and means by which personal data is processed. In other words, at Streamline Connections Ltd, we are a data controller and we require information about you in order to perform our service to you and help us to offer you a more tailored, efficient service.
Streamline Connections Ltd has two business streams - our contract recruitment business and our permanent recruitment agency: we have one data controller as the data is accessed by both parts of the business.
By our contract recruitment business, we mean the assignment of fixed term, temporary work placements with various clients.
By permanent recruitment business, we mean the promoting and introduction of candidates to our clients.
In relation to both contract and recruitment businesses, we provide introductory services that result in interviews, offers of and placement in employment with our client businesses.
In all cases, Streamline Connections Ltd will be your data controller.

What personal data does Streamline Connections Ltd collect and process about you?
To assist you in locating employment and contract assignments, Streamline Connections Ltd will process personal data about its candidates, such as full name, postal address, e-mail address, landline and/or mobile phone numbers.
If relevant, we may also collect and hold data such as details about your previous work references, CV’s and qualifications for the registered person who is seeking new employment. Further to this, if we find suitable contract assignments for you, we will require information including bank details, proof of eligibility to work in the UK, company and insurance documentation, photographic proof of identity and so forth to enable payments to be made in line with current UK employment regulations.
How does Streamline Connections Ltd collect this personal data?
When you register with Streamline Connections Ltd you will be directed to a web form requesting your consent for us to collect and store your personal information. The form will allow you to specify exactly what information you wish us to process and how long we may store it.
Information that you give to us:
Personal data may be defined as information you provide to us, for example by filling in forms on our website www.screc.co.uk or by corresponding with us by telephone, e-mail, post, social media or otherwise. During any telephone or Skype conversations, we may aim to collect personal information with regard to employment preferences, strengths and work experience which may be stored on your personal record.
This personal data facilitates our ability to support your job search and to provide a basis for recommendation when short-listing candidates for a particular role.
If you are successful in an offer of contract temporary work, we will process your bank details, national insurance number and statutory tax details in order to fulfill the legal requirements under HMRC regulations whilst you are under those assignments.
Streamline Connections Ltd will never share personal information or Curriculum Vitae with a third party without your explicit consent.
Information that we receive from other sources
This is the personal data that we receive about you from others. Depending on the relevant circumstances, this may include personal information from our Clients about you, your referees may disclose personal information about you and we may obtain information from third party sources such as LinkedIn and other job sites. As a recruitment business, Streamline Connections Ltd also works closely with third parties such as umbrella company providers and previous employers. We also cooperate with and report to government agencies and regulatory bodies, such as the HMRC.

Streamline Connections Ltd processes the personal data held about you in the following ways:

When does Streamline Connections Ltd disclose personal data?
We sometimes need to share the personal information we process with the individual themselves and also with other organisations. Where this is necessary we are required to comply with all aspects of the GDPR. It may be necessary for Streamline Connections Ltd to share your personal data with others, including:

Where does Streamline Connections Ltd store your personal data?
Streamline Connections Ltd has put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent accidental loss, damage or destruction of your personal data, and to protect your personal data against unauthorised, or unlawful use or theft. We put in place strict confidentiality agreements, including data protection obligations, with our third party service providers and data processors.
Your personal data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
What are your rights?
The GDPR provides you with a number of rights in relation to your personal data. These include rights to the rectification or erasure of your personal data, and to restrict or object to its processing.
In the unlikely event that any of the personal data that we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or contains errors, please notify us in writing. We shall take steps to verify your identity and we shall undertake to make the appropriate corrections at the earliest opportunity.
Should you wish to have some or all of your personal data erased, we will endeavor to do so although there may be instances where legitimate interests or the performance of our statutory obligations prevent us from doing so. Once we have taken steps to verify your identity; then deletion will take place within 30 days. The erasure of your personal data could result in an inability to provide you with some or all of our services.
Restriction or Objection
If you wish to object to or restrict how your personal data is processed by us, you can do so by writing to us. Please see our contact details below. Please be aware that such requests could result in an inability to provide you with some or all of our services.
You also have the right to data portability and to make a data subject access request. You may request that Streamline Connections Ltd provide the personal data that we hold about you to another data controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. In this instance, we would undertake initial checks to confirm your identity in order to further protect your interests.
Notification of Breaches
Streamline Connections Ltd store highly personal information provided by our candidates. We are aware of our responsibility as a recruiter to protect your information and to only share details with third parties upon receipt of your explicit consent. All of our systems are protected and only Streamline Connections staff and consultants have access to the personal information stored in your registration.
In the unlikely event that our computer systems are compromised and there is a potential loss of confidentiality we will report this breach to you.
In the unlikely event that personal data is taken or exposed from Streamline Connections records without our consent, we will provide reports surrounding that exposure within 72 hours of being notified of such an event and take any action necessary to restore security of your personal data.
You may request to be told whether or not personal data about you is being processed by Streamline Connections Ltd. If your personal data is being processed, you are entitled to receive a response from us that provides you with a description of that personal data, the purpose for which it is processed, the recipients or category of recipients to whom that data is disclosed, the source of the personal data, and information about its retention and storage. A copy of the personal data that is undergoing processing shall be provided to you.
